Privacy and Security

At Homeroom Teacher we are as concerned about your privacy and security as you are.  Our business is built on our customers being secure in the knowledge that their information is safe.  Your relationship with us is the most important aspect of our business.  Therefore, everything you tell us is treated with the utmost of care.  Everything you tell us about yourself, including your name, address and telephone number as well as your credit card information are 100% private.  Our website is 100% secure and all information is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. 

How do we retain your shopping cart information? 

Homeroom Teacher, like most internet companies, uses what is known as “cookies” to maintain certain information so you don’t have to reenter it every time you come back to our store.  This cookie resides on your computer and maintains a record of what is in your shopping cart.  We only retain the information for a period of 30 days.  If you don’t complete your order within that period, your shopping cart is emptied and you have to start again.

What information do we retain?

We maintain records of your name, address and telephone number as well as the products that you have purchased in the past.  We retain your credit card information for a limited time (currently 30 days) in the event that you want to add to your order, we need to give you a refund, or some other similar event that may require your credit card information.  At the end of the thirty day period this information is erased.  We retain your name address and telephone number in the event that we need to communicate with you regarding your order or special sales that we may be having.

When do we contact you via email?

Homeroom Teacher emails you for the following reasons:

1. To acknowledge receipt of your order and provide you with a confirmation and receipt;
2. To advise you that an item is out of stock or on back order;
3. To tell you when your order has been shipped and to advise you of the tracking information.

Does Homeroom Teacher send promotional materials by email?

At Homeroom Teacher we believe that you should not be bothered with unwanted emails.  Therefore, we give our customers the right to receive promotional emails, but we don’t send these promotions to you unless you have requested to be added to our email list.  Any time a promotional email is sent you are given the ability to unsubscribe from our mailing list.

Sharing information is considered poor business

Homeroom Teacher respects your right to privacy.  Therefore we never sell or share your information with companies outside our corporate umbrella.  Of course, if we receive a request from a proper government agency with subpoena powers, we would be compelled to provide whatever information is required under the law.  That has never happened in the past and we don’t anticipate it happening in the future.
