Lacing

Lacing is one of the fine motor skills that almost every young person enjoys learning and doing. The easiest way that we have found to start is with some of the wonderful Lacing Cards that we carry at Homeroom Teacher. You can imagine a youngsters joy when he completes a lacing card and discovers that he has created a picture! Once one has been completed he will surely be pestering you to let him do more every day.

The nice thing about teaching lacing skills is that you can keep moving up in the world of complexity and beauty. Once basic lacing has been mastered, perhaps with the aid of a lacing shoe or lacing vest, a youngster can then move on to lacing beads. When that happens, just watch their faces! Here at Homeroom Teacher we have all of these lacing supplies, everything from the lacing shoes and lacing vests to lacing cards and beads. And we don't just the big beads. When your students master the large beads, let them try their hand at smaller and smaller beads, which will really help them with their fine motor skills. They will have a great time doing all of it!
