Heart
chains are great Valentine’s
projects
Here are two different ways to make heart chains for your Valentine’s project:
· Fold two pieces of paper in half together. Cut out a half
of a large heart on the fold line (It will be a slanted and rounded
“J” shape, with the point on the fold line. Cut just
a few centimeters in from the edge of your last hear to make a new
heart – keep doing this until you can no longer cut another
heart out. When you open up your hearts, you will have a series
of heart rings. To make a heart chain, you just need to cut open
a heart and link it to another heart with tape or glue.
· Take pipe cleaners and bend them into heart shapes. Loop
your heart pipe cleaners through each other until you have a beautiful
heart chain.
Make a heart necklace as one of your Valentine’s projects
To make a heart necklace, you just need a bunch of paper clips (colored paper clips are fun). Open up the two sides of your paper clip so that you have a heart, then link all of your paper clips together into a chain which you can turn into a necklace.
A Valentine’s Day pencil holder is a fun and useful Valentine’s project
You need a clean paper or plastic cup. Cut out paper in a size that will fit around the cup (with enough extra to tape it or glue it around the cup). Then have your students decorate the paper with Valentine’s Day stamps, poems, glitter, hearts, cupid’s arrow, or whatever they want. Then simply attach the paper around the cup and put some pencil and pens in it. Voila. Your students have a fun pencil holder that they can use at school or at home. What a fun and easy Valentine’s project.
Cinnamon red hots can be used to make many tasty Valentine’s projects
Give your students each a cup full of cinnamon red hots. Tell them that they can eat just a few – the rest must be used to create a fun Valentine’s project. Let your kids glue the red hots down onto a piece of heavy paper. They can make hearts, form words like “I love you,” or whatever they want.
Magic Valentine’s hearts – there is nothing like a Valentine’s project with a little magic
Have your students cut out hearts out of white paper. Then have them take a white crayon and write a message on the heart. For the next step, it is fun if you have your students give the heart with the secret message to another student, but your students can keep their own if they want. The next step is to take red watercolors and paint over the heart. The Valentine’s message will appear as if by magic.
