Spring art projects

Spring art projectsIf you have an older class, your spring art projects may want to involve a lesson or two on the changing seasons. Why and how does winter turn to spring. What happens in the springtime? What signs are there to show that spring is coming?

  • Spring art projects: "Thumbody Loves You!"
      • You will need:

White construction paper (green construction paper is optional)
Paints, paint pens, markers or crayons
Scissors (also optional)
Glue (also optional)

  • Steps:
  • Divide the white pieces of construction paper into thirds.
  • Have the students write the phrase "Thumbody Loves You!" on the top.
  • Underneath, have the students draw a flower with stem and leaves. 4)
  • Have the children use paint and paint their thumbs, then and place their thumbs in the center of the flower.
  • Once the paint is dry, let the students color in the flower. These are great spring art projects to send home with the children.
  • This spring art project also works great as a book mark!
  • (optional) If you want the students to practice their motor skills using glue, pre-cut the stem and two leaves. Next, let them to glue the stem and leaves to the white construction paper. Then let the students draw the flowers on their own. Use the painted thumb stamp as the center of the flower, as before. Now you have a creative and motor-skills oriented spring art projects!
  • Spring art projects—making butterflies

This is a really simple spring art project that the kids will be sure to love!

    • You will need:

White construction paper
Colored paints

    • Have the children take a sheet of white paper fold it down the center.
    • Then have the students put a drop of paint in the center of the paper.
    • Next have the students put a different color in next to the first drop of paint on one half of the paper and fold it.
    • Make sure the students smash their papers good to really spread the paint all over. This is one of my favorite spring art projects!
