School
funding plays a big part in the quality of education, especially
if you are in a smaller school such as a church school or private,
independently owned school. Parents should participate as much as
they can in helping with school fundraisers.
Here are a few ideas:
· Campbell’s Labels for Education:
This school fundraising campaign has been around for many and can
provide large amounts of money for school fundraisers. It is almost
too simple, just peel off the labels of your Campbell’s soup
cans and turn them in. The next step of this school fundraiser is
when the schools send the cans in. Strangely enough, not all Campbell's
labels are worth the same amount of money. The line of Chunky Chilis
are worth 5 soup labels!
· General Mills Box Tops for Education:
This school fundraiser is similar to the Campbell's program mentioned
above. Purchase any General Mills products with the Box Top for
Education label on it and turn it in to your school. The school
will then send it in to complete the school fundraiser. It is that
simple. You can find out more about this fund raiser program by
visiting the Box Tops For Education website.
· Scrip Advantage:
The Scrip Advantage school fundraiser program provides school funding
through purchasing gift certificates from retailers like Macy's,
JC Penney, Home Depot, Shell, Kroger, and Gap etc. The school fundraiser
Scrip Advantage then makes these gift certificates available to
nonprofit organizations (in your case, your school) at a discount.
When your school fundraiser sells the same gift certificates to
its families and members at face value, the difference between the
discount rate and face value is the school fundraisers weekly profit.
There are hundreds of retailers on the list. Call your school office
to find out of they are a participant.
· Your Local Grocery Store may offer school fundraisers:
Many grocery stores have school fundraiser programs. They will donate
a percentage of the money you spend on your groceries to the school.
For instance, where I live there is a Food Lion that offers a card
called the MVP card. You can get grocery items at a discount price
if you are a MVP member, and membership is free. Then each time
you Food Lion and use the MVP card, part of the total purchase will
be donated to the school fundraiser. Hey, we all buy groceries,
so why not benefit your local school fundraisers in the process—whether
you are a teacher or a parent or neither. It is effortless!
There are many other types of school fundraisers out there, so
before you worry too much about your school budget, look around
for a school fundraiser that will work for your school.
