Everything
a teacher needs to make easy
crafts for preschoolers:
Preschool teachers:
Being a teacher or parent of a child in preschool has many demands.
The easiest part is having easy crafts for preschoolers. Most children
in preschool love to do crafts, but as far as those crafts are concerned—deciding
what to do may be the most challenging part for the teacher. You
do not want the children to be bored—yet you want the craft
to be something they can do somewhat independently—you cannot
give every child one-on-one attention at the same time! Choosing
projects should not be a stressful event, however.
Construction should be easy:
The best and easiest crafts for preschoolers should give your students
a feeling of pride and confidence. The goal is that they should
not become discouraged and frustrated with themselves.
Create the WOW effect:
You can measure a crafts likeability by the childs response to his
or her craft if they are proud of their work—your students
will want to give their art projects and preschool crafts to their
parents or guardians, because they will get a “wow!”
or a “good job” from mom every time!
There are easy crafts for preschoolers for all occasions. Here
are some ideas:
· Coloring or drawing
Coloring or drawing on their own crafts is one of the easiest crafts
for preschoolers and also one of the most important. If you have
them color pages, the pages you have them color should have a correlation
to the lesson, season, or holiday at hand. Make sure you have enough
markers or crayons for all of the children to share—and be
sure to have non-toxic, washable ones. Other crafts that require
coloring and drawing include objects that the children can color
or draw. For instance: plain boxes or heart-shaped or treasure-chest
shaped boxes you can buy from a craft store. You can also have them
decorate with stickers.
· Simple jewelry
We have all seen cereal necklaces. These are crafts for preschoolers
that work with little supervision. Just make sure the first end
is tight so the cereal does not slip off as the children work. When
they are done, help the students tie the ends of the string or yarn
together. At this age group—do NOT try this craft with beads—as
you well know, children at this age still tend to stick things in
their mouths and could easily choke on a bead.
· Glue stick and construction paper.
For this easy crafts for preschoolers, cut the pieces of your colored
construction paper into shapes. Have the children pick the color
of background paper and the pieces cut into shapes that they want
to use. Try to have the children identify the colors and the shapes
they are using. Show them (and you will probably need to help them)
how to use a glue stick to paste the shapes on. Remember—always
use non-toxic glue sticks for any easy craft for your preschoolers.
