A
great way to motivate students to behave well and to work enthusiastically
on their assignments is to reward appropriate behavior that has
been maintained over a decided period of time. Here is a list of
possible rewards and/or class
incentives:
· Become a library helper or office helper
· Earn points for a class video
· Fifteen minutes of free choice activity
· Work with a friend
· Choose a book to read
· Hand out supplies for a class activity
· Free homework pass
· Play a game with a friend
· Free story for the whole class
· Earn a free pencil, pen or eraser
· Pick something from a prize box
· Earn tickets toward free time
· Be the leader in a gym activity
· Send home a positive note to parents
· Read a story to the class
Another idea is to let the student suggest his or her own incentive reward. Ask type of incentive he or she believes would help to obtain their behavior goals and keep them on track.
You might want to use a poster board/ checkmark or sticker system and reward the student after a specified number has been reached.
