The
key is to keep your Christmas classroom decorations neutral and
non- religious.
For example:
Snowflakes
Some Christmas classroom decorations that can be done either alone
or with your students are things such as snowflakes to hang from
the ceiling or put up along the walls of the classroom. These make
nice Christmas classroom decorations because they will be easy and
fast, and your class can even be taught a lesson: that no two snowflakes
are alike, show them by holding their snowflakes up to one another.
Making snowflakes is not costly and they do not take much time to
make as far as Christmas classroom decorations go, especially if
you get the students involved. If you get the students involved
with such Christmas classroom decorations you can make a fun mess
with glitter! The cleanup is relatively easy—just get a vacuum
cleaner.
Winter Scenes
Winter scenes are great Christmas classroom decorations that are
also inexpensive and can display your students artwork around the
room. Use black or sky blue construction paper and colored paints
or crayons—especially white, so they can make snow against
the colored paper. Have the students decorate a Christmas scene
however they want to—they can even use cotton and glue to
make the snow. With these Christmas classroom decorations you do
not need to worry about being politically correct. If a Christian
student wants to do a nativity scene—that is his or her art
and not an implication of what is being taught in the class. Make
sure there is some white construction paper available too, in case
some of the children prefer to do an indoor Christmas scene on a
white background.
Snowmen
You will need a few items to make these Christmas classroom decorations.
1) Styrofoam balls in three shapes: large, medium and small.
2) Toothpicks
3) Puff paints or paint pens
4) Fake snow
5) Orange and black construction paper
6) Black buttons
7) Glue
You can set up a Christmas classroom decorations in a specific area of your classroom where you can lay down the fake snow and have the children place their snowmen together there. To make the snowmen all you will need to do is have the children stick the Styrofoam balls together with the toothpicks and then decorate them like snowmen. If they want to they can make cones out of the orange construction paper to glue carrot noses on their snowmen—(for this you will probably need a glue gun). They can also glue the buttons on as eyes. Or they can just decorate their snowmen with the puff paints and paint pens. It is fairly simple to give the snowmen top-hats made out of the black construction paper, too.
All of these will make great Christmas classroom decorations!
