For many years, construction paper has been among the most popular arts and crafts teacher supplies among young children. This type of paper can be used for many projects, both at home and in the classroom. As a teacher in search of teaching supplies, you will want to have enough construction paper on hand so that every project can be a huge success.

Construction paper is very similar to traditional paper that you would use for a printer or for taking notes. The main difference is that it is a bit thicker. For this reason, it is perfect for a variety of art projects. The other thing about construction paper is that different grades are specifically manufactured for different types of coloring tools such as pencils, markers or paints.

As you shop for construction paper you will realize that you have many options. Most importantly, you have to decide which color you want to purchase. Do you only need one color construction paper? Or do you want to buy a “variety pack” that includes many shades? The answer to these questions depends largely on the project your students will be working on. The other thing you will have to come to grips with is size. It comes in a variety of sizes including 9 x 12 or 12" x 18" as well as rolls of various lengths up to 1,000' in length. But, don't forget that paper can be extremely heavy, so if you buy a large roll you will prpbably need help moving it around or cutting it.

From making cards to cutting out shapes, construction paper can be used in a number of different ways. Of course, students often times have a fun time if they are simply allowed to decorate their sheet of paper with markers, paint, etc.

Construction paper may be a bit more expensive than computer paper, but it is not something that will break your budget. By purchasing in bulk, you can keep your costs even lower.
