Butcher paper is one of those indispensable school supplies that you always seem to run out of at the wrong moment.  It is used for lots of different things around school, but most importantly it is used to cover desks, teacher furniture and classroom floors whenever a particularly messy project is about to get underway.  Additionally, it can be used to cover bulletin boards, although these days there are lots of different colors of paper that are more often used to cover the bulletin boards.  The other thing that butcher paper is good for is to make large banners.  This is because it usually comes in big rolls and it doesn’t tear easily as it is unrolled or after it has been worked on.
