Corkboards, tackboards, or bulletin boards are all the same.  No matter what you call them, they are one of the best school supplies available because they give you a central place to communicate with the students in your class or even throughout the school if you put one in the hallway.  And, of course, they are made to put virtually anywhere you have a need for communication, which includes in the classroom, the hallways, the cafeteria or the library.  You can even get an enclosed one to put outside if that is where you need it.  Wherever you see a need to provide information is where you need to place your bulletin board.

Whether you put them in other places or not, the classroom is the most important place for you to put a bulletin board.  It really is the communications center for the entire class.  This is where you post the class rules and announcements.  How else do you get the word out about the various birthdays of the week or month, talk about assignments, or perhaps even post grades.  You may give handouts to your students, but some of them are sure to need additional information, and this is the perfect place to put it.
